Maybe you already heard about “le bassin minier”, the coal mining basin. It’s a 250km area stretching from East to West, from the city of Auchel in France to Charleroi in Belgium. The area once famous for its mining and its “black mountains” is now forgotten. The French photographer Antoine Bruy takes us through his pictures to a trip to visit the places and meet the people from this territory. There is a palpable melancholy from these black and white shots that you can find below.
